Applications Open: Fully Funded Africa CDC/AVMI 2026 Vaccine Manufacturing Fellowship

Applications are now open for the fully funded Africa CDC/AVMI 2026 Industrial Fellowship Programme in Vaccine Manufacturing. This program targets recent graduates ready to build skills in vaccine production. The deadline is April 30, 2026. It aims to grow Africa’s vaccine workforce from 2,000-3,000 full-time employees to 12,500 by 2040. Fellows will train for one year at sites in Egypt, Senegal, or South Africa.

Africa faces a shortage of experts in vaccine manufacturing. Right now, the continent has only 2,000 to 3,000 full-time workers in this field. Many work in research, not full vaccine production. The program fights this gap by training new talent. It follows Africa CDC’s Vaccine R&D and Manufacturing Competency Frameworks. Fellows get hands-on practice in current Good Manufacturing Practices, or cGMP.
