The management of the University of the Western Cape (UWC) has released the institution’s guidelines on how to cancel courses and studies for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

What happens to my fees account when I cancel my studies at UWC?

You or your parents/guardians must give notice of your intention to discontinue your studies by completing the prescribed form. This must be delivered to your faculty office in person or sent by registered mail.

A reduction in the academic fees may be considered in special circumstances, depending on when the notice of intention to discontinue studies is received. Please consult Student Fees Handbook for relevant dates.

All cancellations are subject to the prescribed administration fee.

Note: fees owing are due immediately on cancellation of studies.

If you withdraw from individual courses that have a minimum duration of one semester, any fee reduction is dependent upon the date of withdrawal. Details can be obtained from the Fees Office.

UWC Tuition Fees Structure

Students at UWC pay tuition fees for every course taken. These tuition fees vary from course to course and cover:

  • registration
  • all charges for classes, tutorials, and laboratories
  • ordinary university examinations
  • library access
  • compulsory personal accident insurance
  • the use of general sporting facilities
  • in the case of medical students, hospital fees for clinical instruction.
