Eligible Study Programs

The ICP Connect Scholarships at Ghent University will sponsor eligible students taking on any of the following two-year master degree programmes at the faculty of Bioscience Engineering:

ICP Connect Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To be Eligible to apply for the VLIR-UOS ICP Connect Scholarship at Ghent University, students must meet the eligibility criteria for both Scholarship – Specific criteria in addition to Ghent University’s admission requirements as outlined below:

  1. Nationality: Be a citizen and resident of an eligible country at the time of application.

  2. University Admission: Applicant must meet the requirements for admittance to the selected Master programme at Ghent University.

  3. Age: The candidate’s age on January 1 of the year of intake must be no higher than 35 for an initial master and 45 for an advanced master.

  • Language proficiency: Be proficient in English language demonstrable by an accepted English test, e.g TOEFL iBT or IELTS

  • Prior Scholarships: Candidates may not have previously received a scholarship from the Belgian government.

  • Work experience: Preference will be given to candidates employed in higher education, government or civil society, or those targeting a career in one of these sectors. Candidates employed in the private sector or newly graduated candidates with no work experience may also be considered if they provide a strong motivation and profile.

English Language Proficiency Requirements

The English language proficiency can be met by providing a certificate (validity of 5 years) of one of the following tests:

  • TOEFL 570 (paper-based)

  • TOEFL 86 (internet-based)

  • IELTS: 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 for writing)

  • Cambridge B2 First

Exemptions

Following students are exempt to provide an English language test certificate:

  1. Applicants who have a diploma (Secondary Education, Academic Bachelor Degree, Master Degree) awarded by an (recognised) institution in the Flemish Community

  2. nationals of all EU and EEA countries, Australia, Botswana, Cameroon, Canada, Eritrea, Gambia, Ghana, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Uganda, UK, USA, Zambia and Zimbabwe
