IHT Hotel School Admission Requirements | This is the official entry requirements for admission application into the IHT Hotel School programmes.
Students enrolling for the Diploma in Hospitality Management must have successfully completed the National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi (or equivalent).
An achievement rating of 4 (Adequate Achievement, 50 – 59 is required in the four subjects chosen from the 2 — credit NSC subjects. English Home Language or English First Additional Language must be one of the subjects passed with an achievement rating of 4. Any other recognised equivalent qualification obtained at NQF Level 4 will also be accepted.
Applicants will need to attend an interview at our campus and may also be required to write additional proficiency tests as part of the admission requirements for certificate or diploma programmes before being accepted. A strong emphasis is placed on good interpersonal and communication skills by a demanding hospitality industry.
To apply, complete the application form and return it to us together with the following:
- A certified copy of the applicant’s ID
- A certified copy of the applicant’s final Grade 11 and most recent Grade 12 results.
- A certified copy of the applicant’s National Senior Certificate, or equivalent, if applicable.
- A reference letter from the applicant’s school /establishment the applicant has worked at.
An application fee is payable on the day of the interview and forms part of the total fee
structure of our qualifications.
