NSFAS Funding 2025-2026… How to check NSFAS application status and Know if NSFAS will fund you in 2025.
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) provides fully subsidized free higher education and training for poor and working-class South Africans.
Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation Dr Blade Nzimande recently made an announcement in which he gave an update on the year’s applications. Nzimande said that NSFAS has begun the evaluation of applications and that this is due to be completed by mid-February.
The evaluation stage is when NSFAS verifies all the documents an applicant has submitted during their application.
The Minister says that this stage will be completed in time for students who are registering. Students should be aware that NSFAS will not be accepting late applications to be funded for the academic year.
Once you have followed these three easy steps, you will be able to see whether you are funded or not. It may take some time for your application to be successful so please be patient.
To track your myNSFAS Application Status, follow these steps:
Visit the myNSFAS Portal
- Go to the NSFAS website: www.nsfas.org.za.
- Click on myNSFAS button at the Top right corner of the homepage.
Log in to Your Account
- Enter your registered email address and password.
- Complete the CAPTCHA to verify your identity.
- Click Sign In.
Check Your Application Status
- Once logged in, look for the Track Application Progress or Application Status tab.
- Click on it to view the current status of your application.
Understand the Status Terms
- Application Submitted: Your application has been received and is being processed.
- Documents Missing: You need to upload the required documents.
- Under Review: Your application is being reviewed to confirm eligibility.
- Approved: Your funding has been approved.
- Rejected: Your application did not meet the requirements (reason will be provided)..
Check Your Application Status
Check regularly for updates or further actions needed, such as uploading missing documents or accepting your funding.
Tracking Application Status on myNSFAS portal
Log In: Enter your registered email and password.
Navigate to the “Track Funding Progress” section to view real-time updates.
It enables applicants to stay informed about the status of their application, identify any outstanding requirements, and receive updates on funding decisions
