Are you a recent graduate looking for hands-on experience in South Africa’s national parks? The SANParks Internship Programme 2026 offers a great chance to build skills in conservation and related fields. South African National Parks (SANParks) manages over 3.7 million hectares of protected land across 20 parks. This program helps unemployed graduates gain real-world work experience.
Program Details
The internship lasts 24 months. You will receive a stipend of R6,335.69 each month. Positions are available at various SANParks offices around South Africa. Note that completing the program does not guarantee a full-time job.
The closing date for applications is 22 April 2026. Spots are limited, so apply early if you qualify.
Eligible Fields of Study
You need a National Diploma at NQF Level 6 from a recognized South African institution. Here are the main areas and specific qualifications:
Tourism and Marketing
Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Finance, or Accounting.
Wild Card / CRM and Loyalty
Tourism Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or Communications.
Socio-Economic Transformation (Various Locations)
- Kruger National Park: Administration.
- Knysna, George, Plettenberg Bay, Port Elizabeth: Business Management, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or related fields.
- Groenkloof: Environmental Education, Natural Sciences, or Social Sciences.
- Port Elizabeth: Social Sciences like Anthropology, Sociology, Community Development, Environmental Management, Public Administration, Development Studies, or Heritage Studies.
Communications
Information Science; Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Marketing, or Communications; Events Management, Hospitality, or Public Relations.
ICT
Information Technology, Computer Science, Web Development, or equivalent.
Finance
Accounting.

LLB degree.

Who Can Apply?
To qualify, you must meet these basic rules:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be aged 18 to 35.
- Hold a National Diploma (NQF Level 6).
- Be currently unemployed.
- Not have done another internship program before.
Foreign qualifications need evaluation by SAQA.
