Programme Overview

SGS is offering a YES (Youth Employment Service) Internship Programme aimed at empowering unemployed South African youth with valuable workplace experience. The programme provides participants with practical exposure, mentorship, and skills development while working in a professional environment. Interns gain hands-on experience in areas such as fieldwork, laboratory support, quality control, and general operational tasks, helping them build technical and workplace skills that improve their employability and career prospects.

Locations: Barberton and Randfontein.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for cleaning up the site/workshop after the task is completed or at the end of the day, whichever comes first, where the job was carried out, and make sure it’s free of all consumables used to perform the job (masking tapes, tins, etc.)
• To adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system
• To orally report any deviations, irregulateries and non-conformities
• Responsible for performing any other reasonable task assigned by the authorised site supervisor/laboratory manager and regional manager.
• Perform all field and laboratory work, including sampling, calculations, and performing test methods accurately.
• Ensure discipline within his/her assigned department.

Requirements

• Minimum Grade 12 (Mathematics and Science)
• Proficiency in English.
• Be a South African citizen (be able to produce a valid South African ID document)
• Be between the ages of 18 and 33 years old
• Must be currently unemployed and have not yet been on a YES Program before
• Must have no criminal record
• Must be willing to relocate to Barberton and Randfontein
