Job Description
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is a Section 3(a) public entity under the Ministry of
Environmental Affairs and is governed by a Board. The organisation is an authoritative voice for
weather and climate related services in South Africa and is a member of the World Meteorological
Organization (WMO) to fulfil a range of international obligations of the government. South African
Weather Service (SAWS) strives to be a Weather and Climate Centre of Excellence providing innovative
solutions to ensure a weather-smart region, sustainable development and economic growth. The
South African Weather Service (SAWS) is therefore seeking to appoint an efficient and enthusiastic
person to undertake the role of:
Office Administration: Meteorological Authority
Salary total package: R209 328 – R302 736

Job Summary:
The position of Office Administrator is responsible for assisting the Meteorological Authority
department with all office administrative functions to ensure efficient and effective workflow in the
department.
Key Performance Areas:
Provide general office support, including filing, tracking and processing of documents, preparation
of presentations, correspondence and management of Office assets
Coordinate work flow and manage progress reports within the MET Authority Unit and assume
secretariat functions and office management support services when required
Meticulous oversight and management of manual and electronic records and information
management systems for collation, recording and storage of information
Overseeing office stationary requisitions, planning, coordinating travel, accommodation, S&T
claims and other logistical requests on behalf of office personnel
Set up meetings, compile and distribute accurate minutes of meetings
Oversight and management of orders and related purchasing functions as and when required
Corresponding with relevant internal and external stakeholders, including coordinating and
maintaining stakeholder relations
Prepare supporting documentation for meetings, presentations for workshops or events, venues,
material and their subsequent dissemination as and when required.
Minimum Requirements and Attributes:
A Diploma in Administration and Office Management with a minimum of 1 – 2 years’ relevant
experience in office administration and office management
Above average computer skills (MS Office) and excellent report writing skills, minutes taking skills,
presentation skills, written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
Must be client oriented, customer focused, responsive and able to perform in a team environment
Proven skills and experience in the application and management of databases is also an essential
requirement for the position
Strong analysis, budgeting and financial management skills, as well as the ability to work with
electronic diary.
