Generations Arrival – Throne Star Monnye Kunupi Lands on Palesa’s Doorstep.
“Stop the sex work!”
“Let me help you.”
These are the words we can expect to hear from Mme Ntswaki, who arrives on Generations: The Legacy tonight (Monday, 11 May).
She’s played by Monnye Kunupi, most recently seen on our screens in the starring role of Queen Mosadi on the Mzansi Magic telenovela The Throne.
She’s also been seen on Generations before. In pre-Legacy days, where she played Dorothy Mabuza.
If you knew her back in the day send us a shout-out!
Her other TV credits include Isidingo, Society, Jacob’s Cross, a starring role on StarTiimes One’s Maseko Ties and a three-time stint on e.tv’s eKasi: Our Stories.
Tonight she’s wiping off her make-up as Mme Ntswaki, who turns-up on Palesa’s (Busisiwe Xaba) doorstep, tired, down-and-out.
She’s described as a resilient woman who’s willing to do anything to make her children happy. She’s a hustler with good intentions, but her weakness is…- moolah. Quick money.
She soon discovers that Palesa is a sex worker and vows to do everything in her power to change Palesa’s life.
BUT, in true soapieville style, things don’t go according to plan and Palesa’s left with a shocking disaster on her hands.
This from Monnye on her role:
Monnye: “I’ve played a lot of glamorous roles in the past, but there is nothing glamorous about Mme Ntswaki. This is a meaty role and I’m really enjoying it.”
According to Gen’s Casting Director Russel Savadier, the show believes they’ve hit a double whammy:
Russel: “Monnye is a fabulous actress. She’s a really good physical match for Busi – they look like mother and daughter, so that was a total bonus.”
See if you think so too.
