The management of the University of South Africa (UNISA) has released the new & returning students’ school fees structure as well as University of South Africa (UNISA) tuition fees booklet, students bursary, banking details, registration fees, examination fees, class fees, finance booklet, and other fees charged for the 2025/2026 academic year.

The following policies and procedures are applicable to all students who officially register for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Certificate, Short Course, and Diploma programmes at the University of South Africa (UNISA).
The Institute reserves the right to change fees without prior notice. However, fee changes are subject to approval by the Governing Council and we will update it ASAP.

It is important to assess the full cost of your studies before confirming your modules for registration. What you can afford will affect the number of modules for which you can register. Our fees differ depending on your qualification, your number of modules, and so on, but basically they include prescribed student fees (including registration fees), miscellaneous fees and fees for additional study material.
If you’re registering via the web or the self-help terminals at a regional centre, you can choose your modules and calculate your fees during that process. If you’re registering by post or fax, you should calculate your fees and minimum payments before you register. Either way, please work through this section carefully to ensure that you can successfully complete the registration process.

The average student registers for between 4 and 6 modules per year at a cost of between *R1 665,00 and *R4 835,00 per module (*these amounts are subject to change). The module costs do not include your prescribed books. Books are an additional cost that you must factor into your calculations for your full costs of study.
Application for admission fee
The application fee is non-refundable even if you decide not to study through Unisa or do not qualify for admission to Unisa.

Bursaries and loans for Unisa students
Unisa’s Division: Student Funding (DSF) administers donor funding in the form of bursaries and loans to Unisa students. The criteria for awarding these bursaries and loans are determined by the donors of the funding. All application forms are available at www.unisa.ac.za/studentfunding
