2 Duties and responsibilities<\/b><\/p>\n

a) PRODUCTION<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Perform a variety of Foundry related testing:<\/p>\n

i. Spectrometer measurements<\/p>\n

ii. Sand testing<\/p>\n

iii. Brinell hardness testing<\/p>\n

iv. Metallurgical \/ Micro analysis<\/p>\n

v. Calibration of sand mixers<\/p>\n

vi. Non-destructive testing of cast products<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Record production date and maintain production logs.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Maintain Active Foundry\u2019s lab testing standards.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Efficiently perform and oversee all the laboratory processes to ensure accuracy in testing and quality.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Maintain and file documentation as required, i.e.,<\/p>\n

i. Material certificates.<\/p>\n

ii. Heat Treatment reports and graphs.<\/p>\n

iii. Micro-Structured results and photos.<\/p>\n

iv. Calibrating measurements of the spectrometer.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Other Duties or Tasks as requested or required by management.<\/p>\n

b) QUALITY<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Analyze samples using the Spectrograph machine.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Supervise all the melting personnel in an efficient manner to ensure consistent production of quality metal.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Monitor the pouring temperatures and practices to ensure good quality castings.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Monitor the ladle additions to ensure the additions are correct.<\/p>\n

c) HEALTH AND SAFETY<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Appointed as Health and Safety supervisor.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Ensure a safe working environment for all melting personnel.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Ensure all melting employees apply and adhere to safety regulations. The Company maintains a smoke- and tobacco-free office. Refer to the Smoking Policy (Clause 5.2 Annex B) regarding smoking rules in the company.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Proper understanding of the MSDS\u2019s is a must, especially health hazards, first aid measures, the ppe requirement, etc.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Medication containing alcohol must not be used before, or during working hours. It is the employee\u2019s responsibility to ensure that they inform their doctor \/ clinic about this for the correct medicine to be prescribed. This is also applicable for over-the-counter medication.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 The correct PPE must be worn.<\/p>\n

d) ENVIRONMENT<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Ensure no damage is done to the environment during the execution of duties.<\/p>\n

3 Qualifications<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00b7 Matric certificate should be considered as the minimum.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Proficiency with precision measuring tools.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Metal Castings \u2013 foundry experience an advantage.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Computer literacy.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Must be able to work without guidance or supervision.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Fault finding and analyzing skills is an advantage.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 The ability to work under pressure is an advantage.<\/p>\n

4 Working conditions<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00b7 The foundry environment is dirty and dusty.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 During breakdowns longer hours will be worked, even weekends.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Due to molten metal and high temperatures, it is a dangerous environment.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Supervising more than four employees.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Production targets are to be met.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 You are not allowed to leave the furnace with molten and\/or metal inside until the furnace has been tapped-out.<\/p>\n
