The\u00a0SAIBCS Prospectus 2024<\/strong> has been released online for bachelor\u2019s degree, diploma, higher certificate,\u00a0postgraduate advanced diploma in nursing and midwifery programmes students for the 2024 academic session.<\/p>\n The SAIBCS Prospectus 2024 is what you need to ascertain any admission or application information of the school.<\/p>\n The Prospectus contains all the information a prospective student needs to become a fully admitted student of the SAIBCS.<\/p>\n The SAIBCS Prospectus contains the list of bachelor\u2019s degree, diploma, higher certificate, postgraduate advanced diploma in nursing and midwifery programmes, admission requirements, and all admission application information to guide you through the SAIBCS admission process.<\/p>\n The SAIBCS Prospectus can be access, download, and print online in PDF format via the official SAIBCS website or admission office.<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n It is recommended that Mathematics, Physical Sciences, and\u00a0Biology<\/a>\u00a0be taken as Matriculation subjects. Candidates shall be admitted to the program if they have the following: Mathematics level 4 or Mathematics literacy level 5, Physical Science level 4 and Life Science level 4.<\/p>\n Clinical training shall be done in general and midwifery hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, the community and community health service facilities in the respective Province.<\/p>\n The bachelor\u2019s degree in nursing is generally a\u00a0four-year-long course<\/strong>\u00a0that is offered by\u00a0most public universities in South Africa<\/strong>:\u00a0UCT,\u00a0Wits,\u00a0Stellies\u00a0(only postgrad),\u00a0UP,\u00a0UWC,\u00a0NWU,\u00a0UKZN,\u00a0UNISA,\u00a0etc. The degree consists of both a\u00a0compulsory practical clinical training component<\/strong>\u00a0and a\u00a0theoretical component<\/strong>. Once you have completed a\u00a0BCur (or equivalent)<\/strong>,\u00a0you are able to\u00a0register as a professional nurse and midwife with the SANC<\/strong>.<\/p>\n It is recommended that you take\u00a0Mathematics, Physical Sciences<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Life Sciences<\/strong>, but this is\u00a0not compulsory at all institutions<\/strong>. You will need a\u00a0National Senior Certificate (NSC)<\/strong>\u00a0or equivalent qualification at exit level 4, with:<\/p>\n The BCur usually prepares students to\u00a0work in four specific fields<\/strong>:<\/p>\n Your course will have a\u00a0practical component<\/strong>. You will learn how to do the kind of\u00a0practical work<\/strong>\u00a0you will need to be able to do when you\u00a0become a nurse<\/strong>. In the theoretical component, you will learn the theory of what it is to be a nurse and you will study medical, biological and natural sciences, psychological and social sciences, and pharmacology so that you have the knowledge you need to be competent and successful healthcare professional.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n These courses are often offered by\u00a0universities of technology<\/strong>\u00a0like\u00a0DUT,\u00a0TUT,\u00a0VUT\u00a0and\u00a0CPUT. This course is only three years long and also consists of\u00a0practical and theoretical work<\/strong>. After you have completed this qualification you are able to work as a\u00a0registered staff nurse<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0enrolled nurse<\/strong>.<\/p>\n You will need a\u00a0National Senior Certificate (NSC)<\/strong>\u00a0or equivalent qualification at exit level 3 or 4, depending on the institution, to qualify to study this course. However, it is not as important that you have taken mathematics and\/or physical sciences as it is for the BCur. You will also need:<\/p>\n During this course, you will cover\u00a0similar work<\/strong>\u00a0to what you would cover in the BCur degree. You will go\u00a0less in-depth with the work<\/strong>\u00a0as the course is shorter. You will learn how to provide nursing care, apply your knowledge in the nursing practice, diagnose and treat minor illnesses and provide reproductive health care.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n This is a\u00a0one-year qualification<\/strong>\u00a0that is aimed to equip you with the skills that you will need to provide\u00a0basic nursing care<\/strong>\u00a0to individuals while working under the supervision of a nurse who holds a\u00a0national diploma<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0degree<\/strong>. After completing your\u00a0higher certificate<\/strong>\u00a0you will be able to\u00a0register<\/a>\u00a0as an enrolled nursing auxiliary<\/strong>.<\/p>\n You will need a\u00a0National Senior Certificate (NSC)<\/strong>\u00a0or equivalent qualification at exit level 3 or 4, depending on the institution, to qualify to study this course, however, it is not as important that you have taken mathematics, physical sciences or life sciences as it is for the BCur.
