The management of the University of Fort Hare (UFH) has released the new & returning students’ school fees structure as well as the UFH tuition fees booklet, students bursary, banking details, registration fees, examination fees, class fees, finance booklet, and other fees charged for the 2025 academic year.<\/p>\n

The following policies and procedures are applicable to all students who officially register for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Certificate, Short Course, and Diploma programmes at the University of Fort Hare (UFH).<\/p>\n

              Debit and credit card payments for student fees are accepted and payments can be made via the Cashiers office by the card holder.<\/p>\n

              Debit order payments are no longer accepted by the University. Students\/Parents may however implement a Stop Order with their respective banks and submit a copy of the stop order to the Student Account\u2019s office on or before the 15th of January. This however will not exempt the student from paying the Minimum Initial Payment for registration. The last payment on your stop order should be set for the 31st October.<\/p>\n

                1. FINANCIAL AID & BURSARIES<\/strong><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                  5.1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>The University currently offers financial aid to South African citizens who are financially needy and who show academic potential.<\/p>\n

                  5.2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>Students are required to apply annually for financial aid and any aid granted is granted for one academic year only.<\/p>\n

                  5.3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>Funding for such financial aid is made through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) and hence the size of any award is determined according to the NSFAS means test.<\/p>\n

                  5.4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>The closing date for application for financial aid is the\u00a031<\/strong><\/b>st\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>August <\/strong><\/b>for Senior Students and\u00a030 September <\/strong><\/b>in respect of returning students.<\/p>\n

                  5.5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>First Year Student will only be given an application form for Financial Assistance upon providing the Financial Aid Office with a letter from the University indicating that the student has been either accepted or provisionally accepted for the academic year.<\/p>\n

                  5.5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>The value of the NSFAS award will only be credited to the student\u2019s fee account in the third term, once all bursaries have been awarded and paid into the student\u2019s account. This is to ensure that the loans granted are as low as possible.<\/p>\n

                  5.6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>Students receiving NSFAS loans will be required to complete an application form and a loan agreement before any payment will be effected.<\/p>\n

                  5.7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>The allocation received from NSFAS is limited and hence the Financial Aid Committee of the University, who makes financial aid awards, must ensure that as many students are supported as possible while at the same time taking into account financial need. Students are therefore advised that registering on the basis of receiving a full loan from NSFAS should not be considered and that a family contribution as determined by the Means Test may be required.<\/p>\n

                  5.8\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>It is also important to note that there are various different kinds of funding made available each year through NSFAS. Below are just a few categories that are made available each year:<\/p>\n

                  \u00d8\u00a0NSFAS Department of Education General Loan Funding<\/strong><\/b>: This categories covers any undergraduate degree or diploma that is offered by the University<\/p>\n

                  \u00d8\u00a0NSFAS Department of Education Teacher (Ring fenced) Loan Funding<\/strong><\/b>: This category only cover student who wish to pursue a Bachelor Degrees in Education or a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.<\/p>\n

                  \u00d8\u00a0NSFAS Department of Education Disability Bursary<\/strong><\/b>: Covers students who \u00a0are disabled. Please note that this category covers various disabilities and you are therefore encouraged to contact the Financial Aid and Bursaries Department for \u00a0further information pertaining to this category<\/p>\n

                  \u00d8\u00a0NSFAS Natskills for Scarce Skills<\/strong><\/b>: This category funds student who wish to study a degree in the following fields of study: a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in either Accounting, Business Management, Economics, Financial Accounting, Auditing and Information Systems, a Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in either \u00a0Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics or Geographical Information Systems or Bachelor of Agriculture.<\/p>\n

                  \u00d8\u00a0NSFAS Natskills for Initial Teacher Funding<\/strong><\/b>: category only cover student who wish to pursue a Bachelor Degrees in Education or a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.<\/p>\n

                  \u00d8\u00a0NSFAS EC Premiers Loan Fund:\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>These category funds students who wish to study a degree in the following fields of study: a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting, Business Management, Economics, Financial Accounting, Auditing and Information Systems, a Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics or Geographical Information Systems or Bachelor of Agriculture.<\/p>\n

                  \u00d8\u00a0NSFAS Final Year Donor Funding<\/strong><\/b>: this category only covers students who are in their Final Year of Study of their Degree or Diploma as well as a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.
