We are the world\u2019s leading primary producer of PGMs, which have a range of specialised applications that improve lives across the world \u2013 from vehicle fuel cells to jewellery; dentistry to glassmaking; pacemakers to petroleum refining.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"job-description-wrapper\" class=\"row job-detail-overview-row\">\n<div class=\"col-xs-12 col-md-2 col-md-offset-1 \">\n<div class=\"job-detail-overview-title-wrapper\"><span id=\"job-description-holder\">Job Description<\/span>:<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-xs-12 col-md-6 col-md-offset-0 \">\n<div class=\"job-detail-overview-desc-wrapper\">\n<p>You will be responsible in providing\u00a0high level and specialist Rock Engineering services and expertise within this\u00a03-5 shaft\u00a0mining operation with increasing mining complexity, variable conditions and aging infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The focus for this role will be to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop\/contribute to tactics and plans for mining at increasing depth and to combat increased seismicity inferred from multiple observations and measurements in current mining.<\/li>\n<li>Set and assure compliance to Rock Engineering systems, policies, protocols and standards.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in industry technical forums and liaise\u00a0with external parties (e.g. local government, other mining companies).<\/li>\n<li>Benchmarking the state of rock engineering practice in relation to established best practice (technology) within a Mechanised and Conventional mine.<\/li>\n<li>Review and sign off layouts, mandatory codes of practice and rock engineering related systems and investigate opportunities to optimize efficiency and cost, driven by rock engineering input.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct and sign-off geotechnical modelling for Mine design and layout purposes and contribute to feasibility studies for new on-mine projects.<\/li>\n<li>Provide input into the ore flow statement, mining, ventilation and other related disciplines as well as assisting with planning (LoM, 5-year, 1-year, monthly).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This role is in the MRM\u00a0department on a Band 6 level, reporting to the Mineral Resource Manager.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"qualifications-wrapper\" class=\"row job-detail-overview-row\">\n<div class=\"col-xs-12 col-md-2 col-md-offset-1 \">\n<div class=\"job-detail-overview-title-wrapper\"><span id=\"qualifications-holder\">Qualifications<\/span>:<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-xs-12 col-md-6 col-md-offset-0 \">\n<div class=\"job-detail-overview-desc-wrapper\">\n<p><strong>You will be required to have:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mining or Geology Degree (4 years) or equivalent.<\/li>\n<li><u>Legal requiremen<\/u>t: Chamber of Mines Rock Mechanics Certificate.<\/li>\n<li>Advance Rock Engineering Certificate would be\u00a0advantageous.<\/li>\n<li>Member of South African Institute of Rock Engineering would be advantageous.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Experience required:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Extensive experience in managing a team of qualified rock engineering\/strata control staff.<\/li>\n<li>Post qualification experience in mining rock engineering (8 years).<\/li>\n<li>Intermediate Computer literacy\u00a0in Microsoft Office.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"additional-information-wrapper\" class=\"row job-detail-overview-row\">\n<div class=\"col-xs-12 col-md-2 col-md-offset-1 \">\n<div class=\"job-detail-overview-title-wrapper\"><span id=\"additional-information-holder\">Additional information<\/span>:<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-xs-12 col-md-6 col-md-offset-0 \">\n<div class=\"job-detail-overview-desc-wrapper\">\n<p><strong>What we offer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When you join Anglo American, you<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>can expect to enjoy a competitive salary and benefits package.
