Kurt Schoonraad: Biography of Kurt Schoonraad, Age, Wife, Career, Instagram & Twitter,<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Kurt Schoonraad is a South African comedian, actor, presenter and MC. He hails from Mitchell\u2019s Plain, Cape Town, one of South Africa\u2019s largest townships. Kurt believes the township played an influential role in developing his sense of humour and comedy style.<\/p>\n

His journey to success in the comedy industry started at an early age. And over the years, he has developed the ability to create an atmosphere filled with laughter and consistently satisfying his fast-growing audience. He is best known for hosting the travel TV show \u201cGoing Nowhere Slowly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kurt Schoonraad Age<\/h2>\n

Kurt was born in District Six, Cape Town on the 19th of June 1973. He is 46 years old.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Kurt Schoonraad Early Life<\/h2>\n

Kurt had to move to Mitchell\u2019s Plain when South Africa\u2019s apartheid government forcibly removed families from the District Six area. He also had to change his school from Zonnebloem Primary in District Six to Duneside Primary in Mitchell\u2019s Plain.<\/p>\n

At the age of 10, he joined the Creative School Of Speech And Drama and fell in love with the stage. He had his high school education at Rocklands Senior Secondary where one of his teachers, Mr Keston inspired him towards acting and entertainment.<\/p>\n

Upon the advice of one of his friends in 1999, Kurt Schoonraad tried out for the Smirnoff Comedy Festival\u2019s New Faces search. He was accepted to perform as part of the festival\u2019s stand-up comedy line-up.<\/p>\n

In 2000, Kurt Schoonraad joined the Cape Comedy Collective. This was the platform that gave him the opportunity to perform his own brand of observational humour. He went to perform his comedy routines at various South African festivals including Oppikoppi Music Festival, the Hermanus Whale Festival and the Cape Town International Comedy Festival.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Kurt Schoonraad Wife<\/h2>\n

The comedian is married to Katrin Bohlender. She is the owner of Africade Productions, a Cape Town-based full-service production company that was established in 2001. They have a son named Jack.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Kurt Schoonraad Career<\/h2>\n

Kurt\u2019s professional comedy career dates back to almost two decades ago. After performing in various festivals, he wrote and directed his own show \u201cPunchlines\u201d that ran at the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town.\u00a0He also consistently performed stand-up comedy onstage.<\/p>\n

Following his appearance on the hit TV series \u201cGoing Nowhere Slowly\u201d, he became nationally popularly known. He has since been acknowledged as one of SA\u2019s favourite TV personalities, hosting game shows, appearing in the well-known BBC format \u201cWho Do You Think You Are?\u201d and \u201cComedy Central presents Kurt Schoonraad\u201d. He stars in various big-screen productions, with his most recent lead performance in the international award-winning South African movie \u201cSkeem\u201d.<\/p>\n

Kurt is the founder and owner of the Cape Town Comedy Club. The club is known to be the mother of all comedy clubs in Cape Town. The club was recently acknowledged as one of the ten best comedy clubs in the world.<\/p>\n
