Mcebo Dlamini (born 17 December 1986) is a South African politician and activist. He is a former President of the Students\u2019 Representative Council of the\u00a0University of Witwatersrand<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dlamini was one of the student leaders of the #FeesMustFall campaign in South Africa.<\/p>\n

Dlamini obtained a law degree from the University of Witwatersrand. While in the university, he was the President of the Students\u2019 Representative Council but was expelled in 2015 for misconduct.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Arrest & Sentence<\/h2>\n

In 2016, Mcebo Dlamini was arrested and charged with violating a court order, public violence, theft, malicious damage to property, and assaulting an officer during the protest.<\/p>\n

On 9 March 2020, the Johannesburg Magistrate\u2019s Court sentenced Dlamini to two years, wholly suspended for five years, for public violence. He was also given six months\u2019 imprisonment, again wholly suspended for five years, for unlawfully staying in the country.<\/p>\n
