Lerato Mvelase (born 7 September 1982) is a popular South African actress and TV presenter known for her role as Katlego in SABC1 drama series Home Affairs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

She also featured in the SABC2 sitcom Home Sweet Home, in 2011 as Princess, a mature, smart, attractive, enthusiastic, slightly obsessive-compulsive security guard.<\/p>\n

She matriculated at Sacred Heart College and was associated with drama from her early life.<\/p>\n

Lerato for many years acted in theatre productions during her education and decided to pursue her passion for performance. Drama, singing and performance as a career was actually a natural progression.<\/p>\n

She received her degree in Drama at Wits University in 2002 and developed into the mainstream as a presenter on CCM1 that same year.<\/p>\n

Her acting debut arrived in a cameo role on the e.tv soapie Backstage (2003). This was followed up with her role as Mbali, a young college design student, in the SABC1 drama series Mzansi (2004) first season.<\/p>\n

Due to commitments as a presenter of Mindset Educational TV (2003-2005), Khanyisile Mbau replaced her in the role of Mbali for the second season.<\/p>\n

In the year 2005, she got the lead role of Katlego in Home Affairs, a dedicated drama student grappling with her identity as a black woman in South Africa.<\/p>\n
