<\/span>Club Career<\/h2>\n

Bartlett began his career with his hometown\u00a0Cape Town Spurs\u00a0and then moved to\u00a0Major League Soccer\u00a0and the\u00a0Colorado Rapids\u00a0in the league\u2019s inaugural season in 1996.<\/p>\n

Halfway through the 1997 season, he was traded to the\u00a0MetroStars\u00a0on 10 July.\u00a0Bartlett left MLS, without leaving much of a mark and returned to his home country.<\/p>\n

He later went on loan to\u00a0FC Z\u00fcrich\u00a0and then transferring there for good in 1998. He went on loan to\u00a0Charlton Athletic in 2000\u00a0and moved there in 2001 on a permanent deal worth \u00a32 million.<\/p>\n

Bartlett won the\u00a0Premier League\u00a0Goal of the Season\u00a0award in\u00a02000\u201301, for his volley against Leicester City. He was released by the club in May 2006.<\/p>\n

Bartlett then returned to South Africa signing with\u00a0Kaizer Chiefs\u00a0and in the summer of 2008 retired from professional football. After several discussions, he then made a return to football with\u00a0Bloemfontein Celtic.<\/p>\n

Bartlett made his full international debut in a friendly against\u00a0Lesotho\u00a0on 26 April 1995.<\/p>\n

He is the second all-time leading scorer behind\u00a0Benni McCarthy\u00a0for the\u00a0South African national team, with 28 goals in 74 appearances. He helped his country to the\u00a01996 African Nations Cup\u00a0and played in the\u00a01998 FIFA World Cup, scoring two goals.<\/p>\n
