Sipho<\/strong>\u00a0Mabuse (born 2 November 1951) is a South African singer, actor and businessman best known for his hit \u201cBurn Out\u201d in the early 1980s which sold over 500,000 copies.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sipho Mabuse Age<\/h2>\n

He was born on 2 November 1951 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Mabuse is 61 years old as of 2020.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Sipho Mabuse Family<\/h2>\n

Sipho grew up in\u00a0Soweto. His mother was\u00a0Zulu\u00a0and his father was\u00a0Tswana.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Sipho Mabuse Education<\/h2>\n

Mabuse dropped out of school in the 1960s. He returned to school at the age of 60, completing his matric (grade 12) in 2012 at\u00a0Peter Lengene\u00a0Community Learning Centre. He stated that he intended to continue on to college and study\u00a0anthropology.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Sipho Mabuse Wife<\/h2>\n

Mabuse was married to Mary Edwards who was an anti-apartheid campaigner. They have a daughter together. His daughter is the singer Mpho Skeef. Mary Edwards moved to the United Kingdom and married Eugene Skeef.<\/p>\n

He was also was married to Chichi Mabuse, now called\u00a0Chichi Maponya, the eldest daughter of\u00a0Richard Maponya<\/a>. The two have two daughters, one called Naledi.<\/p>\n

Sipho Mabuse has six children.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Sipho Mabuse Career<\/h2>\n

Sipho and his band used to be managed by Solly Nkuta, After dropping out of school in the 1960s, Mabuse got his start in the\u00a0African\u00a0soul\u00a0group the Beaters in the mid-1970s. After a successful tour of\u00a0Zimbabwe\u00a0they changed the group\u2019s name to Harari.<\/p>\n

When they returned to their homeland in\u00a0South Africa\u00a0they began to draw almost exclusively on American-style\u00a0funk,\u00a0soul, and\u00a0pop music, sung in\u00a0Zulu\u00a0and\u00a0Sotho\u00a0as well as English. He has also recorded and produced for, amongst others,\u00a0Miriam Makeba,\u00a0Hugh Masekela,\u00a0Ray Phiri\u00a0and\u00a0Sibongile Khumalo.<\/p>\n

Mabuse is responsible for \u201cBurn Out\u201d in the early 1980s which sold over 500,000 copies, and the giant (Disco Shangaan) hit of the late 1980s, \u201cJive Soweto\u201d.<\/p>\n
