Thulas Nxesi (born 1 January 1959) is a South African politician who currently serves as the Minister of Employment and Labour.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He has previously served as the Minister of Public Works, Minister of Sports and Recreation and Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform.<\/p>\n

Thulas Nxesi Age<\/h2>\n

He was born on 1 January 1959 in Matatiele, Eastern Cape. He is 62 years old as of 2021.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Thulas Nxesi Education<\/h2>\n

Nxesi graduated from the University of Fort Hare in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He also holds a Bachelor of Education degree from\u00a0Witwatersrand University\u00a0and a Higher Diploma in Education from the\u00a0University of South Africa\u00a0(UNISA).<\/p>\n

Nxesi is married to Sesi Nxesi, the CEO of Education Seta. He had a daughter called Lona Nxesi, who died in June 2012 in a tragic car accident.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Thulas Nxesi Career<\/h2>\n
Nxesi was a teacher at Ikusasa Senior Secondary School from 1985 to 1990, during which time he was also the head of the social sciences department.He has also served as Assistant Secretary-General and Secretary-General of the South African Democratic Teacher\u2019s Union from 1990 to 1994, and for a second term from 1994 to 2010 respectively.<\/p>\n

During the apartheid years he became involved in politics from a young age and was expelled from school several times for involvement in political activities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Nxesi has also served as president of Education International and secretary of the National Education Union of South Africa.Prior to his appointment as Minister of Public Works of the Republic of South Africa, Nxesi was Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform of the Republic of South Africa from November 2010 to 24 October 2011.<\/p>\n

Nxesi served as the Minister of Public Works of the Republic of South Africa; a position he was first appointed to on 24 October 2011, and reappointed to on 26 May 2014 until 30 March 2017.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
