The Division of Sport Science, as a part of the School of Health Sciences, currently offers a wide range of programmes at the undergraduate (Sport Science and Coaching, Sport Management and physical education and health as a subject of the Teacher programme), Master\u2019s (Sports Physiology and Medicine) levels. As one of three higher education institutions in Sweden, we also drive research education in Sports science since 2001 and currently have 12 doctoral students admitted.<\/p>\n<p>Research in Sports Science at \u00d6rebro University (\u00d6U) is mainly conducted within the research environment RISPA (Research in Sport Science and Physical Activity), organized in four research groups. The current project is driven by researchers from ESPM research group (Exercise Physiology and Sport Medicine).<\/p>\n<p>The PhD position is announced within the frame of a project aiming to investigate the effects of exposure to cold water and hot water immersion on physical performance and muscle recovery in elite football players after match and training. This study is carried out with an integrative approach, including physical tests as well as advanced molecular and cellular analyses of muscle and blood samples. The project is co-financed by the Knowledge Foundation, led by researchers from ESPM research group and involves a collaboration with the following partners: \u00d6rebro elite football club (\u00d6SK), Lithuanian Sports University, Picardie Jules Verne University (France) and Polar Electro.<\/p>\n<p>The doctoral student will be supervised by Docent Elodie Ponsot (principal supervisor) and her colleagues within the EPSM research group (assistant supervisor).<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Worth of Award<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul class=\"\">\n<li>The position is offered as a full-time doctoral studentship for the duration of the study programme.<\/li>\n<li>Duties such as teaching, administration and research other than the student\u2019s own thesis project may be included, however with no more than 20 per cent of a full-time post.<\/li>\n<li>To compensate for time spent on such duties, extensions to the programme length and funding period will be granted. More information on doctoral studentships, part-time studies and part-time doctoral studentships can be found in the Regulations Handbook.<\/li>\n<li>The initial salary for a doctoral studentship is SEK 28 100 a month..<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>For admission to research studies, applicants are required to meet general and specific entry requirements. In addition, they shall be considered in other respects to have the ability required to benefit from the programme. For a full account of the entry requirements, refer to the admissions regulations as well as to annex 2 to the general syllabus for the subject.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants meet the general entry requirements for research studies if they<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>have been awarded a qualification at the Master\u2019s level, or<\/li>\n<li>have satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits (four years) of which at least 60 credits (one year) were awarded at the Master\u2019s level, or<\/li>\n<li>have acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants with credits or qualifications from undergraduate programmes under the previous Swedish higher education system corresponding to these entry requirements are also eligible. The university may permit exemptions from the entry requirements for individual applicants, if there are special grounds.<\/li>\n<li>For applicants to meet the specific entry requirements for research studies in the subject, the following applies master of science in computer science, engineering, or master\u2019s degree in related subject such as mathematics, physics, machine learning, or robotics \u2013 or acquired substantially corresponding knowledge.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants who have acquired substantially corresponding knowledge, in Sweden or abroad, also meet the specific entry requirements.
