All Eligible and Interested applicants may apply online for this opportunity before the application deadline-closing date.<\/p>\n NOTE:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n The GYA membership\u00a0call for 2022 is open now. Applications are sought from young, independent scholars who combine the highest level of research excellence with a demonstrated passion for delivering impact.<\/p>\n The GYA is a global organisation that places a high value on its\u00a0diversity<\/strong>. GYA encourage applications from all qualified candidates. All applicants receive consideration and will not be discriminated against with regard to race, colour, ethnicity, religion, creed, sex, marital status, ancestry, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, physical or mental disabilities, or other factors. We especially encourage women and applicants from different minority groups, and from diverse disciplines including the natural, physical and social sciences as well as the arts and humanities and people working in government, industry, and non-governmental sectors to apply.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n Research<\/strong>\u00a0fields<\/strong>:<\/strong>\u00a0The call is open to all scholars working in any research-based discipline, including\u00a0the natural, physical and social sciences, as well as\u00a0the arts and humanities.<\/p>\n Excellence:<\/strong>\u00a0Applicants must be able to demonstrate a high level of excellence in their discipline, ascertained by a proven track record and expected future achievements. Moreover, applicants must demonstrate a clear commitment to making a difference in society. PhD or equivalent is a requirement for applicants.<\/p>\n Impact:<\/strong>\u00a0The Global Young Academy is committed to a broad range of programmes around the world to support young scholars, promote science to a broad audience, engage in policy debate, and foster international and interdisciplinary collaboration. Applicants should provide evidence of interest or experience in one or more of these areas.<\/p>\n Age\/career point:<\/strong>\u00a0Applicants should be in the early to middle years of their independent careers,\u00a0i.e.\u00a0approximately\u00a07 years\u00a0from PhD\u00a0and\u00a0aged 30-40.\u00a0Applicants falling outside these ranges\u00a0are still invited\u00a0to send their applications with a justification for why they should be considered.<\/p>\n Expectations<\/strong>: Each GYA member is expected to attend the GYA Annual General Meeting each year and is also expected to actively contribute to one or more of the organisation\u2019s programmes, which include participation in policy development, promotion of National Young Academies, supporting science outreach and education at the national and international levels, and the young scientist ambassador programme. The GYA is an active organisation, and being a member requires a time commitment on each member\u2019s part. In the event that applicants are selected as new GYA members, they should be available to attend the next\u00a0Annual General Meeting<\/strong>, which is scheduled for\u00a013 June \u2013 17 June 2022<\/strong>\u00a0in Japan.<\/p>\n Applications should be completed personally by the candidate and must be accompanied by a letter of support. \n<\/strong>Maximum length of 4 pages.\u00a0The Selection Committee\u00a0members\u00a0are instructed to ignore any material over the 4-page limit. Your CV should contain a brief education and employment history and make your achievements clear to a general audience. For example, a few words summarising your most significant publications are more useful than a complete list of every paper that you have authored.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n
\n<\/strong>Please arrange for the submission of at least one letter of support for your application. Your referee(s) should be familiar with your research career and able to comment on your standing as one of your country\u2019s leading academics. If possible, one letter should come from your national academy or equivalent body. If this is not possible, or you wish to supply additional letters of recommendation, these should come from your employer, research institution, or other professional person familiar with your work. Personal or character references are not required.\u00a0Letters should be written personally by your referee(s) in their own words.<\/em>
