“Despite the protests and the rise in infections during this period, in certain provinces, the marking was completed according to plan, observing the high standards commensurate with these examinations.”

Here are some of the positive outcomes:

- Students that were tested positive – for COVID-19 or experiencing symptoms during the exam were allowed to write in a special isolated area venue
- Cheating – that involved crib notes and cell phone usage were less than previous years
What Was This Examination Period Used For?
This particular examination period was used for the following cases:
- Adult students that do not have a matric certificate
- Students that wrote the November examination previously, but did not meet the requirements for a matric certificate
- Students that wrote the November examination previously, and have passed, but want to improve their matric results
- Learners that left school due to unforeseen circumstances
- Learners that were absent but have a valid reason
*Students that are not satisfied with their marks can get their results, rechecked, remarked or viewed.
