Program Overview
The Breede-Olifants Catchment Management Agency runs this internship with the Energy and Water SETA. It lasts 24 months and provides hands-on training in water governance and sustainability. Available Internship Fields
BOCMA has openings in three main areas.
Water Resources Management
This stream has 10 positions. You need a bachelor’s degree in water resources management, environmental science, or related fields. Honors degrees in microbiology, chemistry, or biochemistry also qualify. Interns monitor water quality and ensure rules for the environment are followed.
Water Resource Planning – Hydrology or Geology
Two positions are open here. A master’s degree in hydrology, hydrogeology, or geology is required. Work involves technical models for long-term water planning.
Water Resource Planning – Engineering
Two spots exist for engineers. A bachelor’s in civil or agricultural engineering is needed. Interns help plan infrastructure and develop water systems.
Duration and Stipend
The internship runs for 24 months on a fixed-term contract. You receive a monthly stipend of R7,500 for NQF Level 7-8 qualifications. For NQF Level 9, it is R10,000.
Minimum Requirements
To apply, you must be a South African citizen under 35 years old and unemployed. Hold a relevant qualification with at least 60% in your final year. You cannot have done any prior internship in the public or private sector.
