His parents, who were Manchester United lovers named him after Manchester United player’s Bryan Robson and Gary Bailey.
Habana was educated at King Edward VII School and Rand Afrikaans University (now known as the University of Johannesburg).

He was part of the South African Sevens side in the 2003-2004 World Sevens Series and made his debut for the Golden Lions at the Currie Cup in 2004 scoring a try with his first touch.
Bryan was voted the country’s most promising player that year. He has featured in the South African team, Stormers, Blue Bulls, Western Province, and Toulon.
His career has really been a successful one as he has more tries than any other springbok in history and the second most international try-scorer of all time with a total of 67 tries behind only Daisuke Ohata.
