Understanding the CCBSA Visual Merchandiser Learnership

The CCBSA Visual Merchandiser Learnership Programme is designed to give young South Africans practical skills in sales, merchandising, and customer service within a retail environment. Learners will spend 12 months gaining structured workplace exposure, learning the ins and outs of how products are presented and sold. This program aims to equip participants with a qualification that requires a minimum of 120 credits, demonstrating a solid understanding of the merchandising field.

Key Responsibilities in the Role

Successful candidates will be actively involved in several key areas to ensure products are displayed effectively and sales are supported. This includes executing daily schedules and making sure visual merchandising standards are met in stores. Learners will also be responsible for managing stock rotation to ensure freshness and availability, as well as making sure products are easily seen by customers. Completing iRED surveys and execution scorecards will be part of tracking performance and store readiness.

Beyond physical displays, learners will also support sales and customer interactions. This involves educating customers about the MyCCBA ordering platform, assisting with promotional activities to drive sales, and providing general support to customers and the sales teams. The role also requires providing operational support, which may include stepping in when needed and helping to maintain brand standards across all touchpoints. Working closely with Account Developers and Sales Teams is also a key part of the learnership.

Minimum Requirements for Applicants

To be considered for this learnership, applicants must meet specific educational and age criteria. A Grade 12 or Matric certificate is essential. For mathematics, applicants need to have passed Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy with a minimum of 40%. English and a second language are also required, with a minimum pass mark of 40% for both. Applicants must be South African citizens and fall within the age range of 18 to 35 years old. Crucially, applicants must be unemployed at the time of their appointment and be willing to work six days a week.

Additional Candidate Qualifications

Beyond the basic requirements, there are further qualifications that will be assessed. Candidates must not have any criminal record or adverse credit history. CCBSA will conduct verification of criminal records, ID, and qualifications. It is also important that applicants are not currently studying full-time or enrolled in another learnership program. Furthermore, individuals who have already completed this specific learnership qualification will not be eligible. Having a Driver’s Licence and a post-matric qualification in Sales & Marketing would be an advantage for applicants.

A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) is required, providing a summary of the applicant’s background and any relevant experience. Applicants must also submit a certified copy of their Matric certificate and any other certified copies of qualifications they may hold. If a Driver’s Licence is available, a copy of it should also be included with the application.
