Internship Overview
The Council for Geoscience (CGS) provides a 24-month fixed-term internship at its Pretoria Head Office. Successful candidates will work under the Manager: Human Resources and earn a stipend of R13 000 per month. The program focuses on HR administration, recruitment, employee relations, and training and development.
This opportunity helps build practical skills in a professional setting. It targets those with a National Diploma in Human Resources Management, Human Resources Development, or a related field.
Key Responsibilities
Interns will handle a range of tasks across several HR areas.
Recruitment Support
You will screen job applications and schedule interviews. Prepare recruitment packs and assist with onboarding new hires. Conduct pre-employment screening to ensure smooth hiring processes.
HR Administration
Support payroll and employee benefits. Maintain HR records and databases while filing employee documents. Organize meetings and HR events to keep operations running.
Learning and Development
Help with training programs and employee development initiatives. Coordinate sessions that build skills across the organization.
Employee Relations
Assist with HR matters involving employees. Support workplace engagement activities to improve staff morale.
Project Support
Contribute to HR projects like wellness programs and performance management.
Quality Assurance
Ensure all work follows company policies, HR standards, ISO guidelines, and best practices.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify, you need a Grade 12 certificate and a National Diploma at NQF Level 6 in Human Resources Management, Human Resources Development, or a similar qualification. No prior work experience is required.
You should have basic knowledge of key laws: Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Labour Relations Act (LRA), Employment Equity Act (EEA), and Skills Development Act (SDA).
Required Skills and Attributes
Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines are essential. Good communication, analytical thinking, and attention to detail will help you succeed. Be computer literate in MS Office and show good interpersonal skills with a willingness to learn.
