dtic Internships 2026: Apply for 24-Month Government Training Program
The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) Internships 2026 offer a great chance for South African graduates to gain real-world experience in government. This 24-month program starts on 01 July 2026 and runs until 30 June 2028. It helps young people build skills to work in the public sector and support South Africa’s economy.
Internship Overview
The dtic Internship Programme provides hands-on training in government operations. Graduates will learn about systems that drive trade, industry, and competition. The program aims to make participants more employable while they help create jobs and growth in South Africa. It takes place in Sunnyside, Pretoria.
Who Can Apply
To join, you must meet these basic rules. First, be an unemployed South African with a tertiary qualification at NQF Level 6 or higher. You need strong communication skills and the ability to work well with others. Show professionalism, attention to detail, and the capacity to handle pressure and deadlines. A willingness to learn government processes is key.
Fields of Study
The program accepts graduates from many areas. These include Public Management, Business Management, Human Resource Management, Communication, Law, Software Development, Economics, Statistics, Agricultural Economics, Development Studies, Accounting, Risk Management, Internal Auditing, Natural Sciences like Microbiology and Biotechnology, Mining Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Supply Chain Management, and International Politics.
Monthly Stipend
Interns receive a monthly stipend of R7 860.50. This amount may change based on your highest qualification when you start. It supports you during the two-year program.

Required Documents
Include a completed and signed new Z83 form from www.gov.za/documents. Add a detailed CV that lists your final year modules or subjects. Do not send certified copies at first; only shortlisted people need them. Foreign qualifications require evaluation by SAQA.
Key Application Tips
Late or incomplete applications get rejected. If you hear nothing in three months, assume you did not make the shortlist. Follow all steps to avoid problems.
