EJN Story Grants Support Reporting on Inclusive Water Governance
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) is offering story grants to journalists in Mekong countries. These grants aim to support reporting on inclusive water governance within the Mekong Region. The program, backed by Oxfam, provides financial assistance and mentorship to journalists.
About the EJN Story Grants
EJN is providing up to 13 story grants, with each grant valued at up to $2,000 USD. The focus of these grants is to encourage in-depth reporting on water-related issues, particularly those concerning transboundary waters in the Mekong Region. A key objective is to highlight and amplify the voices of marginalized groups, including women, youth, and Indigenous peoples, in discussions about water governance.
Selected journalists will not only receive financial support but also benefit from one-on-one mentorship. This guidance will come from experienced journalists and EJN’s Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) specialist, who will act as a co-mentor throughout the story production process.
Eligibility for Applicants
To be eligible for these grants, applicants must be from or reporting on the Mekong countries: Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. While groups of journalists can apply together, one lead applicant must be designated to handle communication with EJN and receive the funds.
Applications must be submitted in English. Applicants should have a working understanding of English or arrange for a translator to assist with communication. The grants are open to journalists working in any medium, including online
