Smart Solar System Training Development Programme 2026

In partnership with Plentify (Pty) Ltd, eThekwini Municipality is offering a three-month Smart Solar System Training Development Programme for unemployed youth. This programme focuses on equipping participants with practical skills in installing home energy management systems. It includes both classroom theory and hands-on, on-site training.

Programme Duration and Location

Minimum Requirements

For the Internship Programme:

  • Must be an unemployed graduate or TVET student requiring workplace experience.
  • Must have completed N6 qualification requirements (for TVET graduates) or a relevant degree.

For the Smart Solar System Training Development Programme:

  • Technical Matric Certificate or N3 Technical Matric with Electrical and/or Plumbing trade subjects.
  • South African citizenship with a valid identity document.
  • Aged between 18 and 35 years old.
  • Possession of a Code 8 or Code 10 driver’s licence.
  • Must be unemployed.
  • Must reside within the eThekwini Municipality area.
  • Proof of residence will be required.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English.
  • Must be physically fit for manual work, including working at heights.
  • Willingness to participate in training and work-based activities.
  • Must not have participated in a similar programme before.
