National Certificate: Vocational Explained

National Certificate Vocational NC(V) NATED / Report 191: Post Matric Programmes
Description / Definition: NC(V) programmes are delivered under the auspices of the Department of Higher Education and Training and quality assured by Umalusi. The programmes integrate theory and practice and provide students with a broad range of knowledge and practical skills within specific industry fields. Description / Definition: NATED / Report 191 programmes are delivered under the auspices of the Department of Higher Education and Training and quality assured by Umalusi. The programmes consist of 18 months theoretical studies at colleges and 18 months relevant practical application in work places. Engineering studies range from N1 – N6 while Business and Utility Studies range from N4 – N6
Duration: 3 Years (1 year per level) Duration: 1 Year for N4 – N6 Engineering Studies
3 Years (18 months theoretical studies + 18 months workplace application) for N4 – N6 Business and Utility Studies
Qualification:  Full Certificates on NQF Level 2, 3 and 4
NC(V) Level 4 Certificate is equivalent to National Senior Certificate (matric)
Qualification: N6 Diploma
Admission Requirements: Grade 9 + college requirements set per programme Admission Requirements:  Grade 12 for N4 admission
