Business Studies Admission Requirements

NC(V): Finance, Economics & Accounting

  • The minimum entrance requirement for the National Certificate (Vocational) at Level 2 on the NQF is a Grade 9 Certificate or Level 1 equivalent.

N4-N6: Business Management, N4-N6: Management Assistant, Bookkeeping: Level 3, Office Administrator: Level 5

  • Grade 12 Certificate, and you may be asked to attend an assessment and interview.

N4-N6: Financial Management

  • Possession of a Senior Certificate with Grade 12 Accounting is a requirement for admission, and you may be asked to attend an assessment session.

N4-N6: Public Management

  • Grade 12; or National Senior Certificate (NSC); or National Certificate Vocational (NCV) Level 4; and you may be asked to attend an assessment and interview.

Junior Bookkeeper: Level 3

  • Grade 10 (Std 8) or equivalent and must be at least 16 years of age

Senior Bookkeeper: Level 4

  • Successful completion of the previous learning areas (1-4) – i.e. hold the National Certificate: Bookkeeping NQF L3.Subjects:
    • Financial Statements (FNST)
    • Cost and Management Accounting (CMGT)

Accounting Technician: Level 3

  • Learners registering for this qualification should already have achieved a General Education and Training Certificate at NQF Level 4 or Grade 12.
  • It is assumed that the learners accessing this qualification are competent in communication and mathematics at NQF Level 3.
  • The qualification is open access and providers should assess the suitability of potential learners in terms of their literacy and numeracy.

N4-N6: Human Resource Management

  • Grade 12 Certificate; or National Senior Certificate (NSC) or National Certificate Vocational (NCV) Level 4

NC(V): Office Administration

  • The minimum entrance requirement for the National Certificate (Vocational) at Level 2 on the NQF is a Grade 9 Certificate or Level 1 equivalent.

GETC: Adult Basic Education and Training

  • Grade 9
  • It is assumed that learners accessing this qualification are competent in: Communication at ABET Level 3 or equivalent; and Mathematical Literacy at ABET Level 3 or equivalent.
  • You will be asked to attend an assessment and interview.

NC: Merchandising & NC: Wholesale and Retail: Help Desk

  • Grade 10
  • It is assumed that learners accessing this qualification are competent in: Communication at NQF level 1 and Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 1.

Engineering Studies

National Certificate N1-N3

  • N1: Grade 11 with Maths/ (minimum 50% pass) or Gr 12 with Maths / (Maths Lit 50%)
  • N2: N1 or equivalent
  • N3: N2 or equivalent

N4-N6: Electrical Engineering

  • N3 or equivalent qualification

NC(V): Electrical Infrastructure Construction, NC(V): Motor Mechanics, NC(V): Fitting and Turning, NC(V): Fabrication, NC: Automotive Body Repair L2,

  • The minimum entrance requirement for the National Certificate (Vocational) at Level 2 on the NQF is a Grade 9 Certificate or NQF Level 1 equivalent.

NC: Automotive Repair and Maintenance NQF L2

  • Learners registering for this qualification should already have achieved a General Education and Training Certificate at NQF Level 1 or Grade 12.
  • If the learner does not already have such a qualification, learning in preparation for this qualification should include:
    • Literacy and numeracy at NQF Level 1.
    • Basic concepts of engineering science and technology at NQF Level 1.

NC: Automotive Spray Painting L2

  • Learners registering for this qualification should already have achieved a General Education and Training Certificate at NQF Level 1 or equivalent.
  • If the learner does not already have such a qualification, learning in preparation for this qualification should include:
    • Literacy at NQF Level 1.
    • Numeracy at NQF Level 1.
    • Basic concepts of engineering science at NQF Level 1.

NC: Furniture Making (Wood)

  • Grade 9 Certificate or Level 1 equivalent

Competency Based Modular Training

  • The minimum entrance requirement for practical training is a Grade 12 or minimum N2 Certificate preferably with Maths and Science.

NC: Building and Civil Construction

  • Grade 11, preference given to Grade 12

NC: Mechanical Fitting, NC: Rigging

  • Before registration at the college, it is a requirement that the Apprentice is linked to an employer.

NC: Welding Application and Practices

NCV: Hospitality

  • The minimum entrance requirement for the National Certificate (Vocational) at Level 2 on the NQF is a Grade 9 Certificate or Level 1 equivalent.

Hospitality and Catering Services, Tourism

  • Grade 12 Certificate

NCV: Tourism

  • A Grade 9 certificate, or
  • An NQF Level 1 qualification, or
  • ABET Level 4 certificate, or
  • An appropriate registered equivalent programme obtained at NQF Level 1

  • Grade 10
Education Studies

Early Childhood Development: Level 1-5

  • Grade 9 certificate and working in an ECD environment.

N4-N6: Educare

  • Possession of a Senior Certificate is a requirement for admission, Grade 12 or NQF level 4 in ECD-at least 40% per instructional offering-English must be one of these subjects
  • NCV level 4 with a minimum of 40% for Maths or maths lit; Minimum 50% for English and LO and all subjects passed

National Diploma: Early Childhood Development Level 5

  • Learners registering for this qualification should already have achieved the Higher Education and Training Certificate in ECD at NQF Level 5 (120 credits) and employed in the ECD field.
Yacht & Boat Building
  • A minimum of Grade 9 is required, but preference is given in the selection process to matriculants who have also passed Maths/Maths Lit and English.
Safety in Society
  • Have passed Grade 9
  • Not be older than 25
  • Be a SA citizen
  • Have no criminal record
  • Be medically fit
  • Passed the psychometric tests
2D Animation
  • The Animation programme has entry requirements for acceptance. The minimum academic requirement is a Grade 12 along with a portfolio.
Information Technology

Cisco CCNA – Discovery 1 & 2

  • 18 years or older. No prior computing knowledge is required.

NC(V): Information Technology & Computer Science

  • The minimum entrance requirement for the National Certificate (Vocational) at Level 2 on the NQF is a Grade 9 Certificate or Level 1 equivalent.

Higher Certificate: Information Technology Services Management

  • Applicants with a High School Umalusi Matric:
    • Home Language 50%,
    • First Additional Language 40%,
    • Mathematics 40% or
    • Mathematical Literacy 60%.
    • In the instance of a high school Umalusi Matric qualification, these afore-mentioned subjects, plus three additional subjects (excluding Life Orientation) should amount to an Academic Point Score of 30.0
    • In all instances one language must be English
  • Applicants with a TVET NCV
    • English Language 50%,
    • Mathematics 40% or
    • Mathematical Literacy 60%.
    • In the instance of a TVET NCV qualification, these afore-mentioned subjects, plus four additional subjects (excluding Life Orientation) should amount to an Academic Point Score of 30.0
    • In all instances one language must be English

The False Bay TVET College 2024 applications is open for NCV, NATED, Diploma, Certificate and other programmes offered at the college.
