Gert Sibande TVET College INSETA Learnerships for 2026
Gert Sibande TVET College, in partnership with the Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority (INSETA), is offering an 18-month Work Integrated Learning (WIL) programme. This opportunity is designed for unemployed students who need practical experience to complete their qualifications and boost their job prospects. The programme aims to place successful candidates in insurance organizations within the Gert Sibande Region, providing valuable industry exposure.
About the INSETA WIL Programme
The INSETA WIL Programme is an 18-month learnership that provides essential workplace experience. It is a collaboration between Gert Sibande TVET College and INSETA. The goal is to help students gain practical skills and knowledge in the financial and insurance sector. This experience is often a requirement for students to finish their studies and become more employable. Participants will work in various insurance companies, gaining hands-on experience.
Fields of Study for the Learnership
Applications are open to students who have finished N4 to N6 qualifications or have a DHET Statement of Results in specific Business Studies programs. These fields of study include:
- Management Assistant
- Human Resource Management
- Financial Management
These qualifications are part of the Report 191 curriculum. Students who have completed these levels and are seeking practical experience are encouraged to apply.
Programme Duration and Requirements
The Work Integrated Learning Programme will last for 18 months. To be eligible for this learnership, applicants must meet several criteria. They need to be between 18 and 35 years old and be South African citizens. Applicants must also be unemployed and have no criminal record. A good command of English is necessary, and candidates must be willing to work within the insurance sector and funeral parlours.
Furthermore, applicants should not be currently studying or planning to study during the programme. They should also not be enrolled in any other learnership, internship, or training program. A key requirement is being a registered or former student of Gert Sibande TVET College. Finally, applicants must possess N4 to N6 Certificates or a DHET Statement of Results in one of the qualifying fields. Students currently volunteering, especially outside the insurance industry, are advised against applying.
Required Application Documents
To apply for the INSETA Learnership, candidates must submit a specific set of documents. These include an updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) and an originally certified copy of their South African ID. Applicants also need an originally certified copy of their Matric Certificate and, where applicable, their NCV Certificate. Originally certified copies of N4, N5, and N6 Certificates or the DHET Statement of Results are also mandatory. It is important that all certified documents are no older than six months from the date of certification.

Gert Sibande TVET College will only contact shortlisted candidates for the next steps in the selection process.
