Responsibilities
Interns will handle everyday tasks in civic education and research. This includes general administrative work, supporting the Outreach Management System, and helping with stakeholder coordination. You will also compile documents, prepare reports and presentations, take minutes at meetings, maintain files, manage correspondence, and assist with outreach logistics and office functions.
These duties give real-world exposure to how the IEC promotes democracy.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify, you need a Matric certificate (Grade 12, N3, or NTC Level 4). A Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Public Administration or Political Sciences is required. Applicants must be 35 years old or younger, unemployed, and have no prior work or internship experience in their study field.
The IEC prefers candidates with disabilities and those without strong ties to political parties. All shortlisted people will face risk checks, including qualification, criminal, and credit reviews.
Required Skills
Good written and verbal communication skills are a must. You should know Microsoft Office and pick up new systems quickly. Strong time management, organization, the ability to work alone or in teams, and professional interpersonal skills will help you succeed.
