Kaplan Centre for Jewish Studies and Research was established in 1980 and is situated in Rachel Bloch House. The centre is named in honour of the parents of Mendel and Robert Kaplan. It aims to promote the field of Jewish studies and research at the University with emphasis on the South African Jewish community.

Kaplan Centre Bursary Application Details 2022/2023

The Kaplan Centre is now accepting applications for the bursary for research, students or potential students of courses focused on the Jewish experience and/or Hebrew Language and Literature. The bursary only covers fees and tuition, running costs, travel and/or any other expenses related to an approved research project at UCT. Applicants are encouraged to find other sources of funding which is to be indicated on their application form.
