National Bursary

Here, students will receive full funding for tuition fees for the first year. After this, they will receive 80% funding. National Bursary Requirements

  • Must be a citizen of South Africa.
  • Must have completed Matric.
  • Must have an average of at least 50% in their studies in 2019.
  • Must have registered or is provisionally registered to study full-time towards a TV or Film qualification. This means a postgraduate or undergraduate degree or diploma, not in any acting or performance arts courses.
  • Must have registered or is provisionally registered to study at one of the accredited tertiary institutions in South Africa – preferably to the accredited public tertiary institutions.
  • Must have a proven financial need – meaning they must have a total annual gross income R600 000 and below.
  • Must have a strong academic record.
  • Preference goes to students who are previously disadvantaged.

International Bursary Requirements

  • Must be a citizen or permanent resident of South Africa.
  • Must have the intention of studying at an international tertiary institution for a postgraduate TV or Film qualification, not an acting or performance arts course.
  • Must plan to study a course that isn’t available in South Africa
  • Must apply at least 6 months before the course starts.
  • Must provide proof of strong academic merit within their field of competency
  • Must have a strong academic record.

Applicants must first register an account before they can log-in and proceed with the application. They should also submit clear copies of the following supporting documents together with the online application.

National Bursary

  • A certified copy of an ID document.
  • A certified copy of the Matric certificate or the applicant’s most recent academic results.
  • Proof of tertiary acceptance or the acknowledgment of their application printed on tertiary letterhead.
  • The breakdown of annual academic fees printed on the tertiary letterhead.
  • A motivational letter that states why the applicant should receive the bursary – 1 page only.
  • For those below 21 years old, proof of income of the parents or guardians or spouse in the form of their most recent payslips or bank statements.
  • For those above 21 years old, proof of financial support in the form of their most recent payslips, bank statements, social grant or if unemployed, an affidavit.
  • If the applicant receives any other funding from public or private bursaries, a statement that indicates the funding amount, and the details of the bursary.

International Bursary

  • A certified copy of an ID document.
