Sassa Grant Payment Schedule For May 2026 – Approximately 18 million people benefit from grants distributed by the South African Social Security Agency every month. The agency responsible for grant payments has revealed when beneficiaries will receive their money.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) distributes more than 18 million permanent social grants every month. Beneficiaries of permanent Sassa grants receive their money during the first week of every month.

Permanent grants distributed by Sassa include the Older Persons grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Child Support grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Care grant, and the Child Support grant top-up.

Sassa Grant Payment Dates For May 2026

In May 2026, grant payments will commence on 6th May 2026 with the distribution of the older person’s grants. This will then be followed by the distribution of the disability grants and the children’s support grants later in the week.

Grant payment dates refer to days on which the beneficiary can collect their money at a post office branch or a designated pay point. Grant beneficiaries can also collect their money at several retail stores, including Pick N Pay, Boxer, Usave, Shoprite, and Checkers.

Alternatively, beneficiaries can choose to have their grant paid directly into their bank account from Sassa. This is an attractive option for many beneficiaries as it allows them to access their money at any time.

There is no need to rush to withdraw cash on the first day. Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed.
