Sassa Grant Payment Dates For May 2026

In May 2026, grant payments will commence on 6th May 2026 with the distribution of the older person’s grants. This will then be followed by the distribution of the disability grants and the children’s support grants later in the week.

Grant Type Payment Date
Older Persons’ Grant Wednesday, 6 May 2026
Disability Grant Thursday, 7 May 2026
Children’s Grants (includes Child Support, Foster Child & Care Dependency) Friday, 8 May 2026

Grant payment dates refer to days on which the beneficiary can collect their money at a post office branch or a designated pay point. Grant beneficiaries can also collect their money at several retail stores, including Pick N Pay, Boxer, Usave, Shoprite, and Checkers.

Alternatively, beneficiaries can choose to have their grant paid directly into their bank account from Sassa. This is an attractive option for many beneficiaries as it allows them to access their money at any time.

There is no need to rush to withdraw cash on the first day. Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed.

Sassa assured beneficiaries that their money will still be available even if they do not collect it on the set payment date. Once the money has been paid, it will remain in the beneficiary’s account until it is needed.
