Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for the Dr Xolani Mkhwanazi South32 Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Reside within the King Cetshwayo District in KwaZulu-Natal.
  • Be under 21 years old.
  • Be currently in Matric or have successfully completed Matric.
  • Be studying or planning to study full-time towards a Degree or Diploma in 2027.
  • Be accepted to study at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa.

  • Proof of residence, such as a municipal water and lights account or a letter from a Council member or Chief.

Ensure all required documents are submitted. Missing documentation may lead to your application being disqualified.

Selection Process

Applications will be evaluated based on academic performance and the bursary’s specific selection criteria. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview and assessment. Applicants who do not receive feedback by 30 November 2026 should assume their application was unsuccessful. Bursary funding is provided for one academic year and can be renewed if academic performance and conduct are satisfactory.
