Job Description
Job Purpose
The Department of Agriculture, Western Cape Government has an employment opportunity to employ and develop a competent individual to render administrative function in the Sample Reception in the Chemical Residues and Toxicology Testing laboratory in accordance with the laboratory quality management system. This post is stationed at the Provincial Veterinary Laboratory in Stellenbosch.
Minimum Requirements
Senior Certificate (Grade 12 or equivalent qualification)
Recommendation
Experience in the following: LIMS system (Laboratory Information Management System); Sample reception in a laboratory environment.
Key Performance Areas
Receive and assist clients at sample reception office; Receive biological samples such as blood, faeces and organs from clients; Contact clients to obtain missing information on submission forms; Capturing of sample registration information onto LIMS; Coordinate courier services for referral of samples to other laboratories; Update client information on the LIMS system; Create new client records on the LIMS system.
Competencies
Communication (written and verbal) skills; Ability to work under pressure; Ability to make decisions independently; Interpersonal skills to work with internal and external clients; Insistent on accuracy.
Remuneration
R 173 703 per annum (Salary Level 5) Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
