All candidates for Academy for Facilities Management (A4FM) 2025 Application Intake should check the list of available Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Masters, Certificate, Diploma, Degree, Distance Learning programmes and Short Courses offered that have gained the Council on Higher Education accreditation before applying.

The Higher Education Act is not prescriptive with regards to the admissions requirements for Higher Education learning programmes, it does however prescribe that institutions are sensitive to past inequality and indicate their willingness to redress past inequality.
It is our intention at the Academy to make the valuable skills of Facilities Management available to all students, and will especially consider those who fall into the category of previously disadvantaged individuals. It must be noted that although a student may meet the entry requirements for the programme the student’s placement and admission to study with the Academy is not guaranteed.

A4FM Admission Entry Requirements 2025
The Academy selects potential students based on the entry criteria of the institution. The students are selected on a first come first serve basis.. Should a student whish to gain advanced entry into the programme through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), all of the requirements need to be met in accordance with the RPL policy.
The Management Information system (Moodle) is used to manage all student related information once the student is registered with the Academy.
The administrative staff deals with all admissions and related forms need to be completed by the applying student. All documentation is stored electronically and in student files for ease of reference at a later stage.
Higher Certificate:
The Open Distance Learning programme is open to all suitable applicants with a minimum of a matriculation certificate or equivalent qualification in accordance with the government Gazette, 11 July 2008 “Minimum Admission Requirements for Higher Certificate, Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree, Programmes Requiring a National Senior Certificate:
“The Minimum admission requirement is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) with a minimum of 30% in the language of learning and teaching of the higher education institution as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi).”
All courses are taught in English only.
Prospective students wanting to gain access to the programme:
- Have to present a valid South African Grade 12 certificate (without endorsement) or its international equivalent.
- Be a South African citizens or present a valid passport and student permit.
Students of a mature age (23) will also be considered for entry based upon their experience should they not meet the criteria as indicated above.
Advanced Certificate:
Prospective students wanting to gain access to the programme:
- Have to present a valid South African Grade 12 certificate (without endorsement) or its international equivalent.
- Have to present an appropriate NQF Level 5 qualification from a fully registered higher education institute.
- Be a South African citizens or present a valid passport and student permit.
Registration Procedure
The registration process follows after the prospective student has satisfied him/herself about all the programme details, usually by logging onto the Academy’s website.
The registration process entails the following:
- Complete registration form online ( Academy website)
- Provide certified copy of grade 12 certificate.
- Registration documentation is verified and details uploaded to Moodle.
- .The Academy raises an invoice or quote, as may be required by the employer/ prospective student.
- The Academy and student / employer agree payment terms.
- Payment by student/employer.
- The Academy issues the student with a unique student number.
- Student is granted access to Academy’s Moodle student portal which contains all documentation required by the student including study guides and study material that may be applicable to the particular programme.
Registration Rules
- All students registered with the institution must comply with the minimum entrance criteria.
- Students must submit the required documentation on or before registration date. Registration is not guaranteed.
De-registration
Students are entitled to deregister at any stage based upon the rules as set out in the Finance policy. In essence there is no refund for dropping out, but a student replacement is possible.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Students who do not satisfy the technical benchmark, but can demonstrate comparable RPL competency may also be granted admission upon applying to the institution. Admission of students through RPL will not constitute more than 10% of the total student intake for the programme. The student will be liable for costs associated with any RPL undertaken.
