Doreen Mantle (born June 1926) is a South African-born English actress known for her role as Jean Warboys in One Foot in the Grave (1990–2000).

She was born on the 22nd of June 1926 in Johannesburg, South Africa. As of 2021, she is 95 years old and celebrates her birthday on June 22nd every year.

Career

Since the 1960s, she has been in a number of British television programs, including The Duchess of Duke Street, Sam Saturday, Chalk, Casualty, The Bill, Doctors, Holby City, “Lovejoy” Series 3, Episode 4 – Angel Trousers, and Jonathan Creek. In Jam & Jerusalem (2006–09), she played lollipop lady Queenie. In January 2018, she made an appearance in Father Brown episode 63.

In Barbra Streisand’s film adaptation of Yentl (1983), Mantle played Mrs Shaemen.[8] In 2011, Mantle starred in Coronation Street as Colin Fishwick’s mother, whose identity was stolen by John Stape.

She’s also worked on the radio for BBC Radio 3 and the BBC World Service.
