Are you a recent graduate looking for hands-on experience in South Africa’s public sector? The dtic Internships 2026 offer a great chance to build skills and contribute to the economy. This 24-month program starts on 01 July 2026 and runs until 30 June 2028. It takes place in Sunnyside, Pretoria, and the application deadline is 06 May 2026.
Internship Overview
The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) runs this program to help graduates gain real-world skills. You will learn about government systems and work on projects that support a strong South African economy. The goal is to make you more employable in public service or other fields.
Who Can Apply?
To qualify for the dtic Internships 2026, you must meet these basic rules. First, be an unemployed South African graduate with a tertiary qualification at NQF Level 6 or higher. You also need strong interpersonal and communication skills, plus professionalism and integrity. Be analytical, pay attention to detail, work well under pressure, and show a willingness to learn government processes.

The program accepts graduates from many areas. These include Public Management, Public Administration, Business Management, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Development, Communication, Public Relations, Law, Software Development, Economics, Statistics, Econometrics, Agricultural Economics, Forestry Science, Development Studies, Accounting, Financial Management, Cost and Management Accounting, Risk Management, Internal Auditing, Auditing, Natural Sciences like Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Mining Engineering, Metallurgy Commerce, Occupational Health and Safety, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, and International Politics.
Monthly Stipend
Interns receive a monthly stipend of R7 860.50. This amount may change based on your highest qualification when you start. It helps cover basic needs during the 24 months.

What to Include in Your Application
Make sure your application is complete to avoid rejection. Include a completed and signed new Z83 Form from www.gov.za/documents. Add a detailed CV with your final year modules or subjects. Do not send certified documents at first; only shortlisted candidates need them. Late or incomplete applications will not count. If you have foreign qualifications, get them evaluated by SAQA. If no feedback in 3 months, assume you were not selected.
